CHANTS CAFE BAR 45 on Chanterlands Avenue balances the casual charm of a neighborhood cafe with the livelier edge of a bar and grill, offering a versatile spot for Hull locals looking for good food without fuss. Its location in HU5 places it within easy reach for anyone in the area seeking a relaxed start to the day or a low-key evening hangout.

Visitors often come here for breakfast or brunch, where generous portions and straightforward, hearty dishes provide solid value. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, emphasized by friendly staff who bring a conversational and light-hearted vibe. This makes it a place where you’re as likely to strike up a chat with the team as you are to grab a quick, satisfying meal.

The cafe-bar hybrid feel means CHANTS CAFE BAR 45 works well both as a laid-back morning stop and an informal evening spot. Prices are noted to be reasonable, which suits locals who want a fuss-free quality meal or a casual catch-up without feeling rushed. The space feels comfortable and pleasingly unpretentious — more community hub than trendy hotspot.

For those with a sweet tooth, particular praise goes to the lemon and almond cake, a highlight that shows attention to detail beyond the usual cafe staples. Diners also appreciate the portion sizes, which reflect a mindset of generous hospitality rather than just quick turnover.

Overall, this place fits best for anyone in Hull who values friendly service, good home-style food, and a space that feels like a local living room. Weekends and mornings are popular times, especially for breakfast, but the accessible atmosphere keeps it approachable any time of day.

We went for the first time on Sunday. The food was very tasty and good portions. The staff are so welcoming and cannot do enough for you. What a lovely dining experience. Looking forward to try the cobbler on Thursday.

From the minute we walked in here, the staff were very friendly, the staff were the sort of people you could have a laugh with and the food was great and reasonably priced too. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot in Hull. This is the place

This is a cafe , but it does simple things very well . My wife and I had the lasagna and prawn cocktail , which came with chips , garlic bread and a lovely salad. Not just some mixed leaves but a salad done my care , it had pomegranate drizzled on it aswell . A coffee and a bottle of water all for just over £18 . The sandwiches are massive, and it was a shame I was full because the cakes are homemade and looked gorgeous. They serve alcohol aswell which can be a bonus. If you want nice food and want to support a local business , try it because il be going back very soon .

Love this place. Normally little shops who have regulars are "off" with newcomers and with my anxiety i cant wait to leave... well not this place I walked in and was greeted like a friend, I felt comfortable (also because the seating is super comfy) plus my little dog was welcome and got a sausage on the house! It's a place I definitely will return to...plus the coffee was divine.
